Pour ma jolie QuebeƧoise...

Flight of the Conchords. New Zealand's fourth most popular digi-folk paradists. If you don't know - now you know.

This video is obviously the theme song for anyone who's recently moved to Montreal.

Or check out this amazing rap battle between Hiphopopotamus and Rhymenoceros. You might want to say those out loud for maximum effect. Word.

Amazing Futurama Quotes

I'm bored. Futurama rules.

If you're not yet a fan, perhaps a brief break for funny quotes will cure both my insomnia and your extreme ignorance.

Nibblonian: You are the last hope of the universe.

Fry: So I really am important? How I feel when I'm drunk is correct?

Nibblonian: Yes - except the Dave Matthews Band doesn't rock.

Professor Hubert Farnsworth: Oh, dear, I should have shown him "Electrogonorrhea: the noisy killer" instead.

Fry: All right. It's Saturday night, I have no date, a two-liter bottle of Shasta and my all-Rush mix-tape... Let's rock.

Amy Wong: You just have to give guys a chance. Sometimes you meet a guy and think he's a pig, but then later on you realize he actually has a really good body.

Bender: Shut up and pay attention to me, Bender! Look, I love life and it's pleasures as much as anyone here, except perhaps you, Hedonism Bot. But we need to be shut off! Especially you, Hedonism Bot.

Hedonism Bot: I apologize for nothing!

Leela: Bees communicate by dancing.
Fry: Just like my parents! Oh wait, that was hitting.

[Fry is in a Captain Pike-style life-support machine]
Captain Zapp Brannigan: Do you understand the charges?
Kif Kroker: One beep for yes, two beeps for no.
[Fry beeps once]
Captain Zapp Brannigan: Yes, so noted. Do you plead guilty?
[Fry beeps twice]
Captain Zapp Brannigan: Double yes. Guilty.

That's not why people watch TV. Clever things make people feel stupid and unexpected things make them feel scared."

God: Bender, being God isn't easy. If you do too much, people get dependent on you. And if you do nothing, they lose hope. You have to use a light touch, like a safecracker or a pickpocket.

Bender: Or a guy who burns down a bar for the insurance money.

God: Yes, if he makes it look like an electrical thing.

Bender: Come on, universe, you big, mostly empty wuss! Give me all the juice you got!

Only funny to designers...

Hey, it's a cartoon that will be lost on 95% of the general public, and hi-LARIOUS to nerds in the design/advertising/branding world.

Perfect!

Holy crap! It's like Dilbert got a job at DDB!

Lots more similar funny on skydeckcartoons.com, where Tom Fishburne cartoons about branding, business, parenting, and a million other things I'll deny being into if we meet at a party.

Instead, you'll meet my alter-ego Muffy McBeav, a nightclubbing euro-skank with a badger-like love of cocaine, tanning beds and Lamborghini Gallardos.

Circle Circle Dot Dot

Jamie Kennedy and Stu Stone made this. I think Jamie Kennedy is played here by the African Legonian actor.

This is pretty random, but infectious and funny.

Gangsta lego guys? Obviously awesome!

It took me a second to figure out the title. Then I was all 'ohhhhhhhhh, I get it'.

"That's great Steve"

This thing is funny from first frame to last. It's a viral video about creating viral videos... don't think too hard about it, just watch.

Sellevision by Augusten Burroughs

Maybe it's because it was so rainy. Maybe it's because I was mildly hungover and in the mood for laying about. In any case, I guzzled this book down in a voracious fit this weekend.

Sellevision is Augusten Burrough's first book, supposedly written mainly over a single week. It's not perfect writing, but it's dark, fast and funny.

The story revolves around the team of hosts at Sellevision, America's premier shopping network, as the much-loved and handsome host of Slumber Party Sundown, accidentally exposes himself in front of 60 million kids and their parents during a "Toys for Tots" segment. The characters quickly lose control as each hurls towards his own twisted and subversive climax - finding redemption in porno, valium and other public humiliations. Quick, mean-spirited good fun.

Augusten Burroughs is pretty big right now, due to his bizarre and disturbing memoir Running with Scissors being made into an indy 'it' movie with a-list first namers like Gwenyth and Alec.

Joseph Cross and Evan Rachel Wood in the 'we made a skylight' scene.

Sellevision is supposedly going to be made into a film with Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Kristin Davis and Carrie Fischer, but it seems pretty sketchy right now. In any case, a rather good excerpt from Sellevision if you're interested in reading more.

Weird Al - mad respect!

Word to god, I pumped my fist in the air and said 'YES!!!!' when I just found out about this.

In retrospect it's no surprise, but Weird Al has a Trapped in the Closet tribute on his new album. Yes, I know. It really, really does rule. The clip below is audio only, but seriously - who wouldn't want to hear the clown prince of parody take on the cokehead stepson of ghettofabulousness? There'll probably be a video for this at some point, so this is a sneak preview.

Of course I know it's pretty fucking lame to like Weird Al. He exists in this weird vortex of celebrity, where he's so self-aware of his ironic so bad it's good appeal that he ruins it for everyone that likes him ironically. And to like him sincerely... well, then you're the kind of person that sincerely likes Weird Al.

But to the progenitor of nerd music; to the mastermind behind the classic film UHF; to yet another comic who's thrown his hat down in front of Trapped in the Closet and said 'shall we dance?'; and finally, to the man who made a video I knew every frame in when I was seven:

Weird Al, I salute you.

I Heart Aziz Ansari

Seriously - this guy is an awesome comic who's coming up large in the 2G6 son! Also, he's almost more obsessed with R. Kelly than I am, and is one half of the hosting team for the Trapped in the Closet comedy panel screenings. Soul mate much?

Here's Aziz spraying anti-laugh spray on his audience before a show. Why? Because his comedy has superhuman strength and otherwise it's just too easy.

So the video below is funny. Real funny. It's basically, as it says in the intro, the result of a 'shittiest mixtape' contest between Aziz and friends, where the loser had to walk around New York with a large boombox playing the tape.

Now this was so clearly awesome that it inspired friends of mine to make their own mixtape, which I had the misfortune of listening to the whole way to and from Birch Bay What's weird is that a handful of songs selected by friends were the exact same ones selected by Aziz.

Makes you wonder if 'good/bad' songs are less subjective than you think. I mean seriously - any song with the following lyrics will make even a grizzly bear say 'that's wack'.

New kids on the block had a bunch of hits
Chinese food makes me sick...

I like girls that wear abercrombie and fitch
Id take her if I had one wish

More traditional funny - standup, writing, sketches etc. - available on his website: azizisbored.com.

And try the 'shittiest mixtape battle' with your friends. It's good times!

Classic comedy clips

Recovering after a pretty crazy weekend... doing the Sunday afternoon nachos and naps vs. working out debate.

Why not post some great comedy vids with a 'before they were famous' theme?

Before playing the inestimable Chloe O'Brien on 24 and a string of breakout roles in classics like Legally Blonde 2 and Dude, where's my car?, Mary Lynn Rajskub was a performance artist cum underground comic. Check this segment out - from Janeane Garofalo's short-lived 1995 Comedy Central show Comedy Product.

Or how about this? You might know David Cross from such appearances as: Tobias on Arrested Development, Rob the tech guy in Eternal Sunshine, Newton the Morgue Attendant in Men in Black (I and II), UFO expert in Waiting for Guffman and 'abrasive but well-endowed b-list celebrity' from my personal fantasy life. Well how about here, in a skit he wrote for the also short-lived Ben Stiller Show in 1992? It's really funny stuff.

This Mary Lynn Rajskub short film is also awesome - from very early in her career. Check it out. Love the funny.

Tumblecizing is the new tae-bo...

One more quick clip to share while I wait for my ride. Destination: a karoake bar south of the border in Birch Bay. Sweet debauchery!

So Amy Sedaris, comedy ingenue and co-creator of the best character to hit television in years - Jerri Blank, was on Stephen Colbert, one of the other leads/creators of Strangers with Candy.

As any fan of the show/personalities involved would imagine, things get a little crazy.

The really good moments start at about the 4 minute mark.

Thee Goth Blog!

This may be bad timing, considering the recent attention 'goth blogs' have gotten after the Montreal shooting, but this is some good business.

My friend Russ (who is not a goth but plays one on youTube) makes movies. Lots and lots of movies, which totally rule. This new series is an all-time favourite - the life and times of an aging, unstable and lonely goth - the dark tragedy of spiced wines and silk brocades.

Approximately 99.99999% of all goths will never shoot their classmates. Their life of luxurious despair is not a threat. Although they do look more than a bit ridiculous on sunny days. Enjoy!

If this has whetted your appetite, check out more Thee Aging Goth on his site. Good times, good times.
